A few comments from our Comp Baseball Coordinator:
“Hello! My name is Emily Salter and my husband Stacy and I coach the Ashland Pirates baseball teams. We have several baseball teams from 6U up to 10U. I also sit on the board for Diamond Council Baseball in Columbia and am helping to spread the word about the upcoming DC Competitive Baseball League. I know it is that time of year where coaches are trying to make a decision about which league to register their teams in. If you have been unhappy with the current league you have played in why not choose the DC league? As coaches we know the important things that you will look for in choosing a league for your team and DC meets those requirements!
1. Good, clean, up to date facilities and baseball fields. DC uses all of the nicest facilities offered in the Columbia area for league play. They have good parking, great concession stands and are conveniently located in town.
2. No gate fees or restrictions on what your team or the fans can bring into the ball park. Your team can bring in their own water or sports drinks and fans can bring in any items they may need also.
3. No scheduling hassles. Once a schedule is set it will not change. You will know in advance when and where your games are and they will work with you to avoid any scheduling conflicts you may have.
4. Good competition. We know as coaches you just want to put your team in a league where you will play teams equal to your team. It only takes a couple of teams to commit to this league and others will follow.
5. Coaches can actively particpate in making decisions for the league. Because DC is not a privately owned league and is instead ran by a board if you have concerns or suggestions that you believe will help the league run better you are encouraged to attend meetings or join the baseball board to help out. It is always best when active coaches are on the board because we are the ones on the fields and can see any changes that may need to be made.”
