BACKGROUND CHECKS In order to be eligible to head coach in the Diamond Council of Columbia, individuals interested in coaching MUST complete a Criminal and Sex Offender background check.  Background checks have become a standard practice in youth sports, as coach violence and sexual abuse and harassment have become more frequent (although still rare) occurrences. We believe that every reasonable effort should be made to protect youth sports participants from adults in the program who have a history of unacceptable criminal activity. In an effort to streamline this process, Diamond Council of Columbia has partnered with Protect Youth Sports in order to conduct the background checks.   All recreational team head coaches and 1 randomly selected Assistant coach per team, are required to complete this assignment and have an accepted background check prior to the start of the season.  There are no exceptions to this rule. As you would agree, the safety and welfare of our children is our top priority and concern.   Please Contact League Director Debbie Jameson  with any questions or concerns at 573-499-9741, diamondcouncilcomo@gmail.com or Ryan Hough at Protect Youth Sports (877) 319-5587 ext 288 or rhough@protectyouthsports.com.

Please click on the Protect Youth Sports imagine below to start the process.  Once the review is completed by Protect Youth Sports a simple Background Verification Report will be sent to Diamond Council of Columbia indicating whether or not a Criminal or Sex Offender record has been found. If an unacceptable record has been found, the applicant WILL NOT be eligible to coach within the Diamond Council of Columbia organization.  ALL background check results MUST be completed prior to allowing any individual on either the volunteer or coaching staffs.
